miniPaint: a layered image editor on Graydient
miniPaint is an open-source image editor that runs entirely in the browser, and it is part of the Graydient web app. Open any picture you rendered, or load one of your own, fix what the model got wrong, add text, crop, and save the result back to your gallery. Nothing to install, and the editing happens on your own device.
What it does
miniPaint is the work of the developer Viliusle, and XDA Developers' review of miniPaint summed it up as doing about 90 percent of what Photoshop does for everyday edits. It has layers, a brush, a pencil, a fill and a gradient tool, cropping and resizing, color correction, blur and sharpening, and a long list of filters from box blur and denoise to oil painting, solarize and Instagram-style looks. The text tool is a real one: fonts, size, color, stroke, kerning and leading. It opens and saves PNG, JPG, BMP, WebP and TIFF, and can export the layers as JSON to pick up later.
On Graydient it is one click away from your renders. Pick a picture in your gallery and send it to miniPaint, or load a file from your computer, make the edit, and save it back. The edited picture is then ready for everything else on your plan: upscaling, a new variation, image to video, or another round in the Unified Editor.
What is in the toolbox
- Layers with opacity and blending, so a fix sits on top of the render instead of replacing it.
- Brush, pencil, eraser, fill, gradient, clone and a magic wand for quick selections.
- Crop, resize, rotate and flip, with the usual guides and rulers.
- Color correction (brightness, contrast, hue, saturation, levels) and blur, sharpen and denoise.
- Filters and effects: oil painting, solarize, emboss, grayscale, sepia, vignette, Instagram-style presets and more.
- A text tool with fonts, sizes, colors, stroke, kerning and leading, plus shapes and arrows.
What it is not: miniPaint has a rectangle selection but no lasso, its masking is basic, and there are no smart objects, advanced typography or perspective tools. For those jobs, finish the picture in a desktop editor. For the retouch, the crop and the caption, it is enough, and it is right next to your renders.
Where it runs
- In the Graydient web app, signed in, from your gallery or the editors.
- Any modern browser on a computer or a tablet; it works on phones with a smaller canvas.
- The editing runs on your own device, in the browser. Your picture is not sent anywhere while you edit it.
Why it is better with Graydient behind it
- No round trip: open a render, fix it and save it back without downloading and uploading files.
- The edited picture stays in your gallery, where every other Graydient app can use it as a reference or a starting frame.
- Unlimited renders on a flat monthly plan, so a quick edit and a re-render costs nothing extra.
- Open source and free, with no extra subscription for an editor.

Questions
Can I edit pictures I did not render on Graydient?
Yes. miniPaint opens files from your computer as well as renders from your gallery. Load a photo, edit it, and save it to your gallery to use it as a reference or to animate it.
Is miniPaint a replacement for Photoshop?
For retouching, cropping, color fixes, filters and captions, it covers most of what people open Photoshop for. It has no lasso selection, no smart objects and no advanced typography, so complex compositing still belongs in a desktop editor.
Does miniPaint cost extra?
No. It is open-source software and it is included in the Graydient web app on every plan.
